1969 marked the last year of production for the rare Jaguar 240, fitted with the legendary straight 6 high compression Jaguar saloon derived from the classic Mk1 3.4 and MK2 3.8 OverDrive,
only 3716 of these vehicles were produced and it is estimated that less than 360 remain in existence.
Powered by the vastly improved straight ported E type spec cylinder head and SU Carbs, the 240 was the first sub 3 litre Jaguar to break the 100 MPH record and knock 4 seconds off the 0-60 record.
The competition-derived 4 speed manual OverDrive close ratio all synchromesh unit was an outstanding innovation for a production road car and this example is fitted with the optional OverDrive which is effectively a 5th gear.
Producing 133 brake horsepower this car delivered 105 mph, fitted with the twin SU HS6 carburettors. 4 speed all synchromesh manual gearbox with Laycock de Normanville OverDrive.
This Stunning examples benefits from Dunlop disc brakes all around, offering amazing stopping power and is fettled with 15 inch chrome wire wheels and independent semi trailing wishbone suspension, anti-roll bar front suspension and live axle Panhard rod rear suspension.
Being a top of the line specification this vehicle was also fitted with a laminated windscreen front seatbelts, town and country tyres and a Powr-Lok differential, as well as a high ratio steering box, rear window demister, heavy duty anti roll bar.
This example is finished in its original Cotswold blue exterior with dark blue Ambla interior and sympathetically restored burr walnut veneer. £4800 was spent by the previous owner with specialist restorers
